PNEUMATIC CHEMICAL PUMPS
AIR OPERATED DOUBLE DIAPHRAGM PUMPS
Double diaphragm pneumatic pumps, ideal for pumping and dosing solvents, paints, inks, fuels, food and pharmaceutical fluids, viscous liquids, abrasive chemicals, explosive or flammable liquids. Their extremely compact dimensions make them perfect for small industrial spaces. Driven by compressed air. Materials: corrosion-resistant plastic (PP, PVDF, ECTFE) and metal (steel and aluminium).
BX SERIES: PLASTIC PUMPS
Double diaphragm pumps made of thermoplastic (PP, PVDF, ECTFE). Suitable for the movement of corrosive chemicals, viscous fluids and dense liquids. Maximum flow rate: 800 l/min. Maximum head: 8 bar.
BX SERIES: METAL PUMPS
Double diaphragm pumps made of metal (steel, aluminium). Compatible fluids: non-aggressive industrial liquids, flammable liquids, dense fluids and viscous products (oils). Maximum flow rate: 800 l/min. Maximum head: 8 bar.
BX SERIES: PLASTIC PUMPS
Double diaphragm pumps made of thermoplastic (PP, PVDF, ECTFE). Suitable for the movement of corrosive chemicals, viscous fluids and dense liquids. Maximum flow rate: 800 l/min. Maximum head: 8 bar.
BX SERIES: METAL PUMPS
Double diaphragm pumps made of metal (steel, aluminium). Compatible fluids: non-aggressive industrial liquids, flammable liquids, dense fluids and viscous products (oils). Maximum flow rate: 800 l/min. Maximum head: 8 bar.
INTERNAL DIAPHRAGMS
There are two pairs of diaphragms inside the BX pneumatic pumps and these are obviously the elements subject to the greatest stress during suction and pumping (both at chemical and mechanical level). The membranes are designed to redistribute the load, minimising the yielding of the material. The possible anti-acid and wear-resistant configurations are: plastic (Hytrel, Santoprene), rubber (NBR, EPDM) or PTFE.
THERMOPLASTIC MATERIALS
PP (POLYPROPYLENE)
The most widely used thermoplastic polymer for the construction of anti-acid centrifugal pumps. It offers good resistance to most acid and alkaline solutions and can be used, depending on the concentration of the aggressive liquids, at temperatures of up to 80°C.
PVC (POLYVINYL CHLORIDE)
Plastic material with an excellent resistance to acids, bases, saline solutions and organic compounds. PVC is generally used for pumping sodium hypochlorite (NaClO). At low temperatures it becomes fragile. The operating temperature is between 40 and 60°C.
METAL (AISI316L AND ALUMINIUM)
BX diaphragm pumps can also be made from metals such as aluminium and stainless steel (AISI 316L). In these configurations, they can pump solvents, oils, fuels, difficult liquids from the food, pharmaceutical and ceramic industries, or hot liquids.
HOW THEY WORK
Air operated double diaphragm pumps (AODD pumps) consist of a coaxial pneumatic motor, two pairs of diaphragms and two pumping chambers. The latter are connected to two manifolds (one suction and one delivery). The suction and delivery phases are regulated by ball valves, retained by appropriate seats. Double diaphragm pumps work by alternating a volume of liquid (volumetric pumps). Operation is by means of diaphragms which work simultaneously in opposite directions: their displacement simultaneously creates a vacuum (suction) and pressure (pumping). Compressed air, introduced behind one of the two pairs of diaphragms, compresses the liquid in the delivery line: the opposite diaphragms, which are attached to the motor shaft and driven by it, simultaneously suck in the same liquid. Once the stroke is complete, the coaxial motor diverts the compressed air and the cycle is reversed. As you can imagine, the pairs of diaphragms always work alternately in both directions, generating their typical pulsating flow.
